The ‘Invest Sri Lanka’ Investor Forum organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in association with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in UAE and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates was recently held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai. The forum made a strong case for investment flows into Sri Lanka. The event drew a strong turnout and a full house of leading Dubai–based Sri Lankans across multiple industries and was graced by Hon. Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the keynote speaker.

Capital Market Donation Drive provides COVID-19 related medical equipment to 10 hospitals
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Stockbroker Firms and the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) collaborated recently on a community engagement project focused on donating Rs. 9.6 million worth COVID-19 related medical equipment to 10 hospitals around the country. This capital market donation drive was successful in meeting vital equipment and supply needs of the District General Hospital of Avissawella, District General Hospital of Mannar, District General Hospital of Polonnaruwa, Homagama Base Hospital, Kinniya Base Hospital, North Colombo Teaching Hospital, Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, Teaching Hospital Mahamodara, the National Hospital and Weligama Divisional Hospital.

JAT Holdings Limited lists on the Colombo Stock Exchange
JAT Holdings Limited (JAT-N-0000) commenced trading on the Main Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) today (August 12 2021). The company listed 510,407,773 Ordinary Voting Shares and has been classified under the Industry Group “Materials (1510)”. The company closed trading today at LKR 24.20. JAT Holdings Limited Initial Public Offering (IPO) of 82,904,846 Ordinary Voting Shares by way of a combination of an offer for subscription and an offer for sale at the CSE was opened on 20th July 2021 and was oversubscribed on the initial day itself. The said issue by JAT Holdings Limited received applications for over LKR 2.2 Bn. Joint Financial Advisers and Managers to the offer are CAL and NDB Investment Bank Limited.

CSE Signs MoU with CHEC Port City Colombo
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and CHEC Port City Colombo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the capital markets in Sri Lanka by taking advantage of the Port City Colombo’s special emphasis of the Colombo International Financial Center, in order to establish a regionally recognized financial exchange within the country’s borders. The MoU was signed with the objective of working on a collective mission to establish an International Multi-Currency Exchange within the Port City Colombo. The exchange will serve as a gateway for both regional and global investors, whilst also providing an ideal platform for Sri Lankan and overseas corporates to issue foreign currency bonds and equities as well as develop other financing and risk management instruments across asset classes.

‘CSE, CCC and BOI concludes Sri Lanka Investment Forum
The 2021 Invest Sri Lanka Forum, organized by the Board of Investment, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Colombo Stock Exchange, which commenced on Monday, 7th June concluded successfully on Wednesday, 9th June. Asia’s first ever virtual investment forum was held with foreign participation of 2,200 from 85 countries and 2,500 local participants. The conference consisted of 118 insightful sessions with 108 local and foreign dignitaries, leading entrepreneurs and global experts joining to share information on foreign investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
